Devra Freelander Memorial Fund

In memory of brilliant artist Devra Freelander and in accordance with her family’s wishes, Socrates Sculpture Park established The Devra Freelander Fund in 2019 to accept donations in direct support of our annual artist fellowship program. Devra completed our fellowship program in 2017, and her project ‘Fluorescent Sunrise’ inspired and delighted visitors from all over the world. By supporting the work of Socrates Artist Fellows present and future, The Devra Freelander Fund ensures that Devra’s light shines on.

The Park now recognizes an artist participating in ‘The Socrates Annual’ fellowship and exhibition program each year as the Devra Freelander Artist Fellow. The Devra Freelander Artist Fellow, selected by Socrates’ exhibitions staff, exemplifies Freelander’s artistic values of sustainability, identity, and feminism as well as her independent and adventurous spirit.
